Description:
With over 220,000 square feet (20,000m2) of space, the Clough Commons is an innovative “green” construction that features 41 classrooms, two auditoriums (each 300+ seating), study rooms, a roof garden, exhibit spaces, the CommLab (computer & IT technology lab), a solar array for energy, water cistern (1.4 million gallon capacity). It also houses labs for Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Earth & Atmospheric Sciences.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used to treat over 2,200 cubic yards of structurally reinforced concrete for the underground cistern as an NSF 61-approved non-toxic solution and to ensure that the structure walls remain waterproof.
Description:
To address the growing water & sanitation needs of the city of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, the concrete structures of the Coors Sanitary Sewer Vacuum Station in Albuquerque, NM were updated. The vacuum station provides sewer service to approximately 600 properties and was expanded to improve capacity and decrease contamination.
Products Used:
Approved by the Army Corps of Engineers, PENETRON products were used to waterproof the concrete structures of this waste water facility.
Description:
The Corredor Duarte Tunnel, the newest tunnel in the Dominican Republic is part of the Corredor (Corridor) Duarte that provides a rapid connection between Santo Domingo and the rest of the country. About 1,200m (4,000 ft.) in length, the tunnel plays a key role in relieving chronic traffic congestion in the capitol. Using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) construction process, a much thinner shotcrete layer was applied, immediately behind the tunnel boring machine, creating a natural load-bearing ring and minimizing deformation of the surrounding layers of rock.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used to reduce the permeability of the shotcrete walls. PENEBAR SW-55 was used to seal the concrete construction joints. In total, 45 tons of PENETRON ADMIX and 2,300 meters of PENEBAR SW-55 were used.
Description:
The contractor for this prestigious new Mercedes dealership worked with the local PENETRON agent to achieve complete waterproofing, crack reduction and allow for more flexibility in the construction schedule.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was added to the concrete at the time of mixing and during installation of construction joints throughout the project.
Description:
Geoje City is the largest dockyard in Korea, a global center for construction, repair and maintenance of large, ocean-going vessels. The dry docks location had massive hydrostatic pressure, which presented a challenge to construction of a new dry dock. The project manager looked for a reliable waterproofing solution that would keep the dock area dry. As the previous dry dock experienced several leak – despite the use of a conventional membrane waterproofing material – a more effective solution that would resist the high hydrostatic pressure was needed to protect the concrete and steel reinforcements from water ingress and waterborne contaminants.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete was recommended for the project’s belowgrade walls and basement structures. The PENETRON ADMIX-treated areas successfully sealed the structure against any water penetration and kept the structure dry. Due to the high hydrostatic water pressure, the biggest concern was how to seal the construction joints; a combination of PENECRETE MORTAR and PENETRON packed the joints tightly and successfully eliminated any water penetration.
Description:
A coal-fired power generating facility, the Marshall Steam Station is Duke Energy’s second largest coal facility and generates enough electricity to power approximately 2 million homes. A new coal conveyor system was installed to help reduce corrosive runoff and groundwater contamination from stockpiled coal. This included a tunnel with an above grade concrete funnel to feed the coal to an underground precast concrete box.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX, PENETRON and PENECRETE MORTAR were used to construct the base slabs, funnel and precast tunnel sections (about 4,600 cubic yards). PENETRON’s ability to lower permeability and increase durability of the concrete in an aggressive groundwater environment was a key reason for its use in this project.
Description:
Encorp Marina is a luxury condominium in Puteri Harbor, right across from the island of Singapore. This waterfront project offers spectacular panoramic views of the Straits of Johor. The development offers 538 units with high ceilings and balconies, overlooking the private marina and a landscaped park. Further facilities include six themed pools on different levels, a putting green, gymnasium, children’s playground, tennis and squash courts, a yoga deck, club house, BBQ pits, lawn areas and retail areas.
Products Used:
The proximity to seawater called for a reliable and proven waterproofing system to ensure the durability of the structure; PENETRON ADMIX was used to treat over 5,000m3 of concrete.
Description:
ENEL is a global energy provider and Italy’s largest power company; the power plant in Andonno is one of the company’s most important. PENETRON products helped restore a 2km section of the main tunnel by waterproofing a total area of 24,000m2, including the joints and tunnel walls.
Products Used:
The tunnel walls were treated with PENETRON, which was applied by spray application. The joints and cracks were treated with PENECRETE MORTAR with an additional amount of PENETRON in liquid form that was injected by resin to ensure a deep penetration of the PENETRON crystals into the concrete structure where cracks had damaged the surface. This method ensures a further tightening of the concrete matrix, preventing water ingress through joints and cracks.
Estádio Estadual Kléber José de Andrade, also known as Estádio Kléber Andrade, is a soccer stadium located in Cariacica, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The stadium was originally built in 1983 and holds up to 45,000 people. The venue was comprehensively renovated for the FIFA World Cup 2014, allowing the state of Espírito Santo to host the World Cup.
Products Used:
PENETRON, PENETRON ADMIX, PENECRETE MORTAR and PENEBAR SW-55 materials were used throughout to create a durable concrete structure.
Description:
The Expo 2010 Shanghai China was the biggest World Expo to date, with more than 190 countries and 50 international organizations participating; over 73 million people visited the Expo 2010, also an attendance record. The Expo Axis, the largest single structure of the Expo 2010, is a one-kilometer-long and 100m wide walkway that runs from the Expo main entrance straight to the Celebration Square by the Huangpu River. It consists of two underground and two above-ground levels and connects the major Expo 2010 exhibition areas, with retail, food, entertainment and exhibition service facilities. It also connected several metro stations and the elevated pedestrian walkway. During the Expo 2010, the Expo Axis served as the major artery for the heavy pedestrian flow.
Products Used:
PENETRON was applied as a dry shake to waterproof and protect the entire bottom concrete slab of the Expo Axis against the high groundwater table (due to its close proximity to the Huangpu River). Over 216 tons of PENETRON materials were applied.
